Two drifters, off to see the world
There’s such a lot of world to see
We’re after that same rainbow’s end, waitin’ ’round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

– Audrey Hepburn, Moon River

Every night, his daddy sings him this song to lull him to sleep, and together with other songs such as “Blue Moon” he forms the “moon medley”.

Blogging and online gaming have taken a setback because of baby J. More time is needed for him from me, and thus the retreat from the online world.

Quick updates:
– Japan trip went well 🙂 baby J was a good traveler, and Hubs and I were glad that we visited another beautiful country.
– Celebrated Christmas and New Year’s eve with great friends and much love 🙂
– Starting Masters again on Tuesdays, in Early Childhood. Finally pursing my interest again.
– I am a proud breastfeeding mum for nearly 4 months. 🙂 a great achievement I must say.
– I am itching to travel and run away to another country on my own, but I know that I will miss my son terribly if I ever did something crazy like that.
– Spring cleaning is about to commence. I started with my Facebook friends. Need to clean up. Hopefully I can get more things cleaned up around the house too – Hubs has yet to unpack his stuff since we moved in.

Will update soon, but before I forget… have a great 2012 🙂

J’s First Outing

Sleeping soundly after his first Hep B jab – he is 4.155kg and 54 cm long now!

Yesterday was the first time we brought J out for an extended period of time and it was a huge success 🙂 having him in the carrier was liberating and he managed to sleep in it as well. We visited my gynae for the last time (for now; Hubs wants to have another one soon, though…), my colleagues in school (he cried the whole staff room down, but they didn’t mind and instead added a lot of “oohs” and “awwws”), and finally the polyclinic for his first jab ever since we left the hospital. It was a wonderful feeling being able to walk around with him, and we are entirely convinced that we could travel with him in the future.

Which brings me to talk about the Japan trip that we had wanted to embark on to visit Hubs’ sister’s family – she is willing to sponsor our air tickets for our first anniversary gift! We are really tight on cash having bought (and done up) the new place plus having J, and we were honestly very broke. But Hubs’ sister has always been encouraging and feels that we should travel as early as we could. We are so going to make this work! Am very excited – hope it’ll all work out fine 🙂

…weeks’ old, that is.

My lactating career has progressed quite well since my last post, so I’m on my way to preserving more goodness for Baby J. He’s been a sweetie most of the time (during the day especially) but lately in the evenings he had been cranky and fussy, with lots of continuous crying and non-settling after his 2nd last feed for the day. It may be colic, but it also seems like a growth spurt because he would settle down after a feed followed closely from that 2nd last feed. Oh well.

Life as a mom requires so much more discipline, patience and love than ever. It can be so tiring and upsetting when he fusses/cries/screams, but when you see him sleep and looking sated, you would feel so much satisfaction. 🙂

My sweetie pie

Now the next most headachey thingy is – what to plan for his 满月? I don’t have much time for planning… hmmm.

Addendum: his 满月 was a success! Lots of presents (and ang bao) for him and we thoroughly enjoyed our time catching up with family and friends. Lots of valuable advice was also given to us noob parents 🙂 and J stayed up almost the entire day and slept soundly throughout the night 🙂

Low milk supply.

5 days ago, I suffered from breast engorgement, and made an appointment with Thomson Parentcraft Centre to learn about latching Baby J so that he could feed off me properly as well as to ease the pain in my boobies. Being overconfident at that point in time where I seemed to be “over-supplying”, I did not religiously pump out my milk as I should.

And now, low milk supply. I could barely keep up with Baby J’s ever growing appetite. He is currently going through a growth spurt now and he feeds off a lot more than I could manage now. With each pump session, I could barely make it for his demand. So right now, I’m bombarding myself with lots of red date tea and water every now and then, and Hubs went to purchase fenugreek capsules:

Introducing my BFFs for now – red date tea, fenugreek capsules and lots of water in my Nalgene

It is supposed to be able to boost milk supply within 24 to 72 hours. I had just taken 3 capsules – let’s see if this works for me. And please keep your fingers crossed for me! I really would want to provide Baby J with breastmilk for as long as I could. I shall make this work!
