Caught the movie yesterday with an ex-student and it was… bittersweet. I thought it would be one of those teenage love story shit, but it turned out… not quite that.

Two drifters, off to see the world
There’s such a lot of world to see
We’re after that same rainbow’s end, waitin’ ’round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

– Audrey Hepburn, Moon River

Every night, his daddy sings him this song to lull him to sleep, and together with other songs such as “Blue Moon” he forms the “moon medley”.

Sweet.

In One Of Those Melancholic Moods

Went for a course today and met with a lot of old friends, many of whom I’ve not seen since we parted ways about 3 years ago.

And there was, you.

An unexpected sight, honestly.

You, looked the same.

We, didn’t talk at all. Except “hi”.

No goodbyes.

I guess that can only be good.

On a very random note, I’m suddenly feeling anxious about meeting a student’s father discussing his daughter’s grades (which are honestly, not that bad, but can be better of course). I wonder why the sudden anxiety pangs.

Hubs surprised me by bringing to catch The Lion King at Marina Bay Sands!

Photos from various sources

Well, we all know the plot and the songs and stuff , but I wasn’t too particularly overwhelmed by the singing though – somehow the actors’ singing were a little off that night. Nonetheless, I was really touched when the animals appeared – the costumes were so intricate and every detail was taken into consideration. The stage seemed a little too small though – when all the animals were up there it looked a little too cramped. There are many good reviews on the musical, and I think it’s worthwhile to catch it. 🙂

On 1 December 2010, we made our way to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the icon of New York City. It was POURING cats and dogs when we set off, but we were determined to visit Liberty Island.

A gloomy day to visit Liberty

Listening to 987fm in the staff room while marking test papers was quite shiok. I feel like a teenager all over again.

When the lights go out
We’ll be safe and sound
We’ll take control of the world
Like it’s all we have to hold on to
And we’ll be a dream

Wow. Time flies in cyberspace, but trust me it crawls back in reality.

Inception was great! Heard about this show a long time ago and I’m glad I finally caught it. Got me into wanting to find out more about dreams and stuff. Leo DiCaprio acted really well again; the last time he had some mind twisting movie was Shutter Island, which IMHO was quite good too.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is super cool in this show too! He being the Point Man was epic; so suave and cool, really sexy stuff. Especially that gravity-defying-Matrix-like part when he was fighting off the projections. Cool shit.

Work has been ok, I guess. Having survived 5 weeks worth of crap is an amazing feat. Week 6 and 7 are gonna be short and the feeling of knowing that the upcoming two weeks are gonna be great is super shiok. I’ve been giving remedial to my students every day (they didn’t do so well the last test – hopefully they are better now), and somehow it feels really good to teach them in small groups. I guess the students realize that they do need to do a lot of catching up, and thus they are more motivated and hardworking.

Can’t wait for the end to come, though. It’s near, and I’m rejoicing!

Quite sad that another of my good friend at work has left 😦 but well, I know 天下有不散之筵席, so it ain’t that bad…

Hubs-to-be and I have been participating in NDP rehearsals every Saturday because we are actually marching! Marching can be quite cathartic and extremely fun when you are in the marching front (and the only girl for that – beat that!) and I think it made me slimmer haha. Yesterday was the Preview, which means that there is only 1 day left to look forward to – National Day itself! It’s been a wonderful experience being able to be part of the bigger picture, something that I’ve always wanted to do but never got the chance to till now, and I’m grateful for that.

The Marina Bay Sands Promenade. Really gorgeous. And (I think) it’s the best place to view fireworks!

We were at where the above picture was taken to prepare for the post-parade city march, and the view here is gorgeous! Would love to have our wedding photo taken here. 🙂

Speaking of which, I’m so excited about the first fitting which will be on the coming Friday! Have been researching on flowers and working on the itinerary for our honeymoon (unfortunately, I’m only done with New York), and so far I’ve found a few pictures online depicting the kind of floral arrangement I would want for my hand bouquet:

In line with the theme, indeed! 🙂 I’m looking at more interesting orangey/red/pink flowers to make up the bouquet. I shall print the photos out in colour soon… There’s one white bouquet there because I thought that it may be nice to just go with the usual white-but-different-flowers bouquet (with a nice dark pink ribbon for mine of course). We’ll see!

Another thing that has been bugging us of late – the guest list! Argh! I’ve been wanting to ask my colleagues about saving the date but they are just a few of those I-don’t-really-want-to-invite-you-but-I-have-no-choice kind people that I can’t really bring myself to talk to. Sigh. Need to work on a good strategy to minimize contact with them…

That’s all for now! When I’m more free and chilled I’ll write more; of late it’s been so hectic and tiring for me that I slept for 14 hours on Friday evening 😮
